Step Up Your Texting Game

Texting has quickly become the newest and most preferred method of communication amongst people of all ages. Whether you’re letting a family member know what to pick up for dinner or if you’re making plans for a date, you’re more likely to text than call. In today’s society, the most crucial part of online dating is to master the art of texting. From flirting to making plans, you’ll want to make sure that your texts read properly and entice the recipient to want to know more. Below are some of the most important Do’s and Don’ts of texting.

Do: Ask Questions

People love talking about themselves and you should love getting to know more about the person that you could end up dating. Find a variety of different interesting questions online or simply ask your own to get more information about the other person. This is a great way to keep a conversation going and it will keep both parties engaged and interested in the conversation. Plus, the recipient will feel like you are interested in what they have to say and will become more attracted to you.

Do: Answer Questions

It can be difficult to find the time during the day to answer questions from a potential partner, especially if you’re at work, but it’s important that you try to answer their questions as often as possible. Remember, people who are interested in you will take the time to ask questions and they can lose interest if you don’t seem like you want to talk to them at all.

Do: Stick to Plans

If you’re going to take the time to text someone that you’d like to eventually meet, it doesn’t make much sense to ignore the plans that you made and not follow through. Not only is this a disservice to yourself, but it will also make the other person think that you are irresponsible or simply not interested in them.

Don’t: Sexting

Even though it can be tempting to let the other person know that you want them in a physical nature, it’s preferred that you avoid sexting. At times starting a sexual conversation can be taken the wrong way or it can lead to awkward discussions later on. It’s better to save all of the sexual conversations for when you and your partner are ready to take that step. Otherwise you could be encroaching on their personal territory and appear desperate for sex.

Don’t: Naked Pictures

Much like with sexting, it’s best to try to avoid sending naked pictures. This can put you in a vulnerable position where you’ll be waiting for the recipient to compliment your body. In the event that they don’t respond at all, this may be taken in the wrong context and lead to misinterpretations. Also, it’s better to make sure that you leave the majority of sexual things a mystery so you can both enjoy each other for the first time without any expectations.

Don’t: The 3-Day Rule

Everyone has this idea of not texting for 3 days after you get someone’s number when in reality, it can show someone that you care if you text them right away. No one is going to want to get into a relationship with someone that is seemingly too busy to talk to them or that isn’t interested in them. Ignore the 3-day rule and text the person you’re interested in right away, there’s nothing bad that can come out of it except for planning a date earlier than you expected.
